Criminal case against former colonel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations sent to court

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case against the former assistant head of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, Colonel of the Internal Service Zaur Mirzoyev, has been completed, oxu.az reports. Two women were recognized as victims in the case.

According to the information, this criminal case was sent for consideration to the Baku Grave Crimes Court and transferred to the proceedings of Judge Muhammed Akperov. The time of the preparatory court hearing has not yet been announced.

Z. Mirzoyev, with his criminal actions that go beyond his powers, caused serious damage to the rights and legitimate interests of these women, as well as to the business reputation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Articles 156.2.1 (violation of privacy), 242 (illegal distribution of pornographic materials or objects) and 309.2 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan was entrusted with conducting a preliminary investigation. Z. Mirzoyev was detained on August 17, 2022 as a suspect.
