Term of arrest of “broker Abulfaz” detained by the State Security Service has been extended

The court of the Sabail district of Baku considered a petition to extend the measure of restraint against the head of Broker LLC Abulfaz Melikov, known as “broker Abulfaz”, oxu.az reports. The court recognized the submission of the investigating authority as justified and extended the period of arrest for two months.

A. Melikov was detained by employees of the State Security Service as part of a criminal case against high-ranking officials of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A criminal case was initiated against the head of Broker LLC under Articles 209.3 (customs payment evasion committed on an especially large scale), 213.3 (tax evasion committed on an especially large scale) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The preliminary investigation into the case is ongoing.
