Half a million dollars worth of drugs seized

Drugs worth half a million US dollars were confiscated from the residents of Shamkir, the report.az Internet news portal reports, citing the press service of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As a result of operational-search activities, employees of the Shamkir district police department detained drug couriers Elshad Ibrahimov and Nuraddin Huseynov, who received an online order to transport drugs previously brought to the region from Iran to Georgia for 12,000 manats and a certain amount of drugs.

During the detention, a black bag was confiscated from them, inside of which there were 8 kg 122 g of heroin, 2 kg 297 g of opium, 111 g of the psychotropic substance methamphetamine and 300 methadone tablets. The value of seized drugs on the black market is about half a million US dollars.

As a result of investigative and operational measures, it was established that E. Ibrahimov had previously entered into a criminal relationship with an Iranian citizen, having smuggled him a small amount of drugs.

The investigation into the fact is ongoing.
