Official sentenced to 8 years in prison

The Ganja Grave Crimes Court has completed the trial of the criminal case of Elyar Jafarov, who is accused of taking a bribe.

According to рravda.az, at a meeting chaired by Judge Natig Aliyev, a verdict was read, according to which the man was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

According to the prosecution, in June 2020, Jafarov, being the chairman of the Duzgishlag municipality of the Goranboy region, received a bribe in the amount of 7,000 manats from a citizen for renting a land plot of 33 hectares, but he did not fulfill his promise. The citizen appealed to the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, and E. Jafarov was arrested.
