Scammers who sold fake cryptocurrency to hundreds of citizens to be sued

The preliminary investigation into the criminal case of Gulara Abdullayeva, Khayal Yakhyaev and Yegyana Mammadova, accused of cryptocurrency fraud, has been completed, oxu.az reports. The case materials were sent to the Baku Grave Crimes Court and submitted for consideration to Judge Azad Majidov.

More than 200 people were recognized as victims in the case.

G. Abdullayeva and Kh. Yakhyaev were detained during an operation carried out by employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They set up a company in the country called Insuccess and then set up social media ads through the OCOS scam.

During the investigation, it was found that fraudsters created on the Internet through special local programs a virtual non-existent cryptocurrency, organized its “sale” on the international currency market and fraudulently took possession of citizens’ funds, promising high incomes under the guise of an investment package.

During searches in offices rented by these individuals in the Khatai district of the capital, Sumgayit and other places, material evidence was found and confiscated.
