Member of transnational drug network arrested

On the basis of the information received, employees of the Main Department for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan have taken operational measures to combat illegal drug trafficking, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the department.

During the events, a member of a transnational criminal group, previously convicted Farhad Aliyev, was detained, who was trying to smuggle a large consignment of drugs from Azerbaijan to Russia. During the search, two cellophane bags with hashish with a total weight of about 28 kg were found on him, as well as a bank card, which he used to cash out the money received from the sale of drugs.

As a result of the investigation, it was proved that F. Aliyev is one of the main suppliers of drugs to foreign countries from Azerbaijan.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against Farhad Aliyev. Operative measures are underway to detain other members of the transnational drug network.
