Political scientist to stand trial for misappropriation of funds

Jabrayil Farzaliyev, former adviser to the chairman of the Center for Research on International Relations, will face trial, oxu.az reports. He is accused of embezzling 527,000 manats, oxu.az reports. He was charged under article 179.3.2 (large-scale misappropriation) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, by a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against J. Farzaliyev.

At present, the preliminary investigation of the case has been completed, the materials have been sent for consideration to the Baku Grave Crimes Court. The case will be considered under the chairmanship of Judge Farid Namazov.

Jabrayil Farzaliev was also a member of the Youth Union and worked as a political scientist. In 2018, he became the winner of the eighth grant competition, held with the financial support of the Youth Foundation.
