A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of illegal actions committed in an institution subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture, Report news agency reported citing the Ganja city prosecutor’s office.

The city prosecutor’s office conducted an investigation into illegal actions that took place at the Research Institute for Plant Protection and Industrial Plants of the Agrarian Research and Innovation Center. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions of embezzlement of budgetary funds were established by accruing wages, bonuses and travel allowances to individual employees in excess of the established amounts.

In fact, a criminal case was initiated in the Ganja city prosecutor’s office under articles 179.2.3 (embezzlement using official position), 179.2.4 (embezzlement causing significant damage) and 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code.

Currently, the preliminary investigation of the case is ongoing.
