Police operation: armed persons detained

Officers of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime (gang department) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan carried out a number of operations in Baku and Sumgayit, as well as in the Balakan region, to detain persons illegally storing firearms, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the department.

Thus, during the events, Elchin Huseynov, Elmar Nasibov, Muhammad Tagiyev, Murad Rustamov and Ali Garayev were detained and handed over to the investigation, from whom a Kalashnikov assault rifle, 60 cartridges for it and 2 magazines, a sawn-off hunting rifle, a Zəfər pistol and 7 cartridges for it, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a magazine for it, as well as a revolver-type pistol, 3 cartridges for it and a sawn-off shotgun, respectively.

According to these facts, criminal cases were initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. With regard to the detainees, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen. The investigation is ongoing.
