Smuggling of a large consignment of drugs into the country is prevented

As part of measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat drug trafficking, smuggling of a total of 37 kg 770 g of drugs into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented, oxu.az reports with reference to the press center of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the information, as a result of the operational search activities carried out on April 8 at 23:30, 15.2 kg of narcotic drugs were found and confiscated on the official territory of the Goytepe border detachment.

On the night of April 9, 2023, as a result of a joint operation carried out by the Goytepe border detachment of the State Border Service and employees of the Jalilabad District Police Department, residents of Sumgayit Joshgun Askerkhanov (born 1982) and Murad Shahbazly (born 1997) suspected of drug smuggling were detained. ) who tried to escape in a Toyota Prius.

When examining the vehicle, more than 22.5 kg of drugs were found in it.
