Criminal cases initiated in connection with environmental offenses

The Office of Extra-Criminal Proceedings of the General Prosecutor’s Office conducted an investigation in connection with environmental offenses, Report news agency reported citing the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office.

During the investigation, it was found that as a result of cutting down 42 trees in the Khachmaz, Barda districts, as well as the Surakhani district of Baku, more than 36,000 manat damage was caused to nature.

On the facts, criminal cases were initiated under articles 259.1 and 259.2.4 (illegal felling of trees causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and sent to the relevant internal affairs bodies for investigation.
