Ministry of Internal Affairs: 170 criminal groups neutralized in Azerbaijan

In the first quarter of this year, 81.9% of the total number of crimes were solved in Azerbaijan, of which 80.3% are not causing a great social threat and not serious crimes. 83.5% of 9,448 crimes registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office, including 95 registered in previous years, have been solved, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov at a meeting of the collegium of the department.

According to the information, the detection rate of grave and especially grave crimes, crimes against a person, premeditated murders and attempted murders, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, robberies has improved. Thanks to the measures taken during the investigation, 78.5% of material damage was compensated to the victims.

In addition, the minister said that 1,572 defendants who were on the national and interstate wanted list were arrested, 170 criminal groups were neutralized as part of measures to combat organized crime, and 59 people who illegally stored and transported firearms were brought to justice.
