The period of arrest of persons detained for misappropriation in the Ministry of Defense has been extended

The term of arrest of those accused of misappropriation of the former head of the financial and budget department of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Nizami Mammadov, former officers – head of the financial department of the ministry Rafael Khalafov, head of the financial service of the Air Force Jalal Kazimov, head of the financial department of the Ground Forces Bayram Bayramov, officer of the financial department of Vusal Alizade, head of the financial service of the training center of the Azerbaijan Army Rashad Melikzade, APA reports.

To extend the terms of their arrest in connection with the continuation of preliminary investigative actions on their criminal cases, the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service sent a petition to the court, the Baku Military Court found the petition justified. According to the court decision, the term for choosing a preventive measure for the accused was extended for another 6 months.

The accused were detained in the course of operational and investigative measures carried out by the State Security Service. They were charged under Article 179.4 of the Criminal Code (Appropriation on an especially large scale).
