Operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Service: 160 kg of drugs seized from illicit trafficking

As a result of another joint special operation carried out by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, the illegal circulation of a large consignment of drugs smuggled into the country was prevented, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the operation in the Beylagan region, a resident of Baku, previously convicted Tarlan Khasmamedov, was detained. With him, as well as in the car in which he was a passenger, 100 kg of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances and therefore potent, and 60 kg of opium were found.

During the preliminary investigation, T. Khasmammadov stated that he acquired drugs through the mediation of a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran named Yashar, which he took from a cache in the border village of Ikindzhi Shahseven, Beylagan region, with the aim of subsequent sale at various addresses in Baku.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against the detainee, and the investigation continues.
