A group of people who brought drugs into Azerbaijan was detained

A group of people who were importing ecstasy and cocaine from South America to Europe, and from there to Azerbaijan, was detained, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

Khalid Iskenderov, Khayyam Asadov and Elman Yusifov were detained during the latest operation of the Main Department for Combating Drugs. They were found to have about 1 kg of cocaine and 3,284 ecstasy tablets. It was established that these drugs were delivered from the countries of South America to Europe, and from there in transit to the territory of Azerbaijan. The role of E. Yusifov, a truck driver engaged in international cargo transportation, was to import drugs into the country, the task of H. Asadov was to take these drugs out of the border areas and deliver them to H. Iskenderov, who was supposed to organize the sale of cocaine and ecstasy in Baku, as well as withdrawal of “dirty” money from the country. During the investigation, it was found that the detainees are one of the main suppliers of cocaine and ecstasy in Azerbaijan.

On this fact, criminal case has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest has been chosen against the detainees, operational-search activities are continuing.
