Editor-in-chief charged with fraud

Tariel Abdullayev, editor-in-chief of the Yaşıl elm platform, has been arrested in Baku on charges of fraud, oxu.az reports citing APA. He was charged under articles 178.2.2, 178.2.3, 178.2.4 (fraud committed by a person repeatedly using his official position and causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Four people were recognized as victims in the criminal case, whom the fraudster promised to help with their studies abroad.

The Narimanov District Court, chaired by Judge Vusal Gurbanov, considered the submission of the investigating authority on the choice of a measure of restraint in the form of arrest for a period of 3 months in respect of T. Abdullayev. The court granted the request.

The editor-in-chief’s appeal to change the preventive measure to house arrest was denied.
