Police seize 46 kg of drugs smuggled from Iran

In the Astara region, 46 kg of drugs smuggled from Iran were found and seized from illegal circulation, oxu.az reports with reference to the Lankaran regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. As a result of a successful operation carried out by the police department in the territory of the village of Sym, a resident of Lankaran, Elkhan Hasanov, was detained, suspected of organizing drug trafficking.

During a search of the cargo hold of the car he was driving, 46 kg of drugs were found and seized, including 20 kg of opium, 20 kg of marijuana, 5 kg of heroin, 1 kg of methamphetamine and 2,000 methadone tablets.

During the investigation, it was established that E. Hasanov organized drug trafficking through the mediation of an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being established.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of arrest against E. Hasanov.
