Court decision on the case of a fraudster who embezzled 1.4 million manat

The Supreme Court has completed consideration of the cassation appeal against the sentence of Orkhan Maharramov, accused of fraud, reports oxu.az. According to the decision, the previous decision was completely canceled, and the case was sent for review to the appellate instance.

The Baku Grave Crimes Court sentenced O. Maharramov to 6 years and 6 months in prison. The Baku Court of Appeal did not satisfy his complaint. He was found guilty of misappropriation of 1.4 million manats belonging to his uncle Amil Aliyev.

On the basis of the statement of the victim, a preliminary investigation was carried out at the Main Police Department of the city of Baku. In a criminal case initiated under Article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in December 2019, O. Maharramov was put on the wanted list.
