Prevented cyber attacks using fake domains on behalf of government agencies

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of Azerbaijan detected and prevented 582 cyber attacks in the first half of 2023, oxu.az reports with reference to the Computer Incident Response Center (CERT) of the state service.

It is noted that the attacks were mainly of the APT type (Advanced Persistent Threat – a targeted continuous attack of increased complexity).

“251 of these cyberthreats were identified based on internal investigations, and 331 were identified based on investigated incidents received by government agencies. In addition, we have blocked 52 fake domain names similar to government domains (gov.az). This allowed us to prevent possible fraudulent actions of cybercriminals on behalf of the state institutions of Azerbaijan,” CERT said.
