Internet ransomware arrested

Members of a group who fraudulently extorted money from citizens on social networks have been detained in Baku, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The attackers extorted “commissions” from their victims for supposedly providing cash loans and under other pretexts.

The police, using digital technologies, located and detained residents of Baku, suspected of committing fraud, previously convicted Kanan Amrahly (born 1993), Ragif Mammadov (born 2003), Zakhir Khalidoglu (born 1994) and Emin Ismayilov (born 1995).

In their testimony, the detainees confessed to their deed.
