Court decision in the case of a former prosecutor

The Baku Court of Appeal has completed consideration of an appeal against the verdict against the ex-prosecutor of the Baku City Prosecutor’s Office Samir Nasirov and the accused with him Farid Eldarov and Matlab Hasanov, oxu.az. reports. This complaint was not upheld.

F. Eldarov and M. Hasanov were sentenced to five, and S. Nasirov to eight years and six months in prison. The preventive measure in the form of police supervision against M. Hasanov was canceled, he was arrested in the courtroom. They were charged under article 312 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

S. Nasirov was previously convicted. In 2018, he was found guilty of fraud in excess of 150,000 manats. Based on the materials of the official investigation, a criminal case was initiated against him. He was expelled from the supervisory authority and taken into custody. The Baku Grave Crimes Court sentenced the ex-prosecutor to two years probation, he was released in the courtroom.

S. Nasirov’s appeal and cassation complaints against this verdict were not satisfied.
