An internationally wanted citizen was extradited from Poland to Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan continues close cooperation with the relevant structures of foreign states at the bilateral level and within the framework of various international platforms in connection with the extradition to our country of persons put on the international wanted list on charges of committing various criminal acts, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

It is noted that this month alone, three people were extradited to Azerbaijan from the UK, as well as from Ukraine in transit through European countries.

In addition, the whereabouts of Sakhavet Niftaliev, who had previously been put on the international wanted list on charges of theft in conspiracy with a group of persons (Article 177.2.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan), was established in the Republic of Poland, and he was arrested. In connection with this, the Ministry sent a corresponding request for the extradition of this person to our country, negotiations were held with the Polish authorities, and an agreement was reached on his extradition with the provision of all necessary documents in accordance with international procedures.

On October 26, with the participation of senior officials of the Department of International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, S. Niftaliev was extradited from Poland and, based on a court decision, placed in the Baku Pre-trial Detention Center (SIZO).
