Smuggling was detained at the state border

In November, the State Border Service (SBS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan continued measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration and drug trafficking, oxu.az reports with reference to the SBS press center. Thus, according to the data, 38 people were detained for violating the state border, of which 18 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 10 of Pakistan, five of Iran, and one each of Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Algeria, India and Nigeria. 14 people were detained while trying to cross the state border using fake documents. 925 people were detained for violating border regulations, and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As a result of measures to combat crime during this period, 387 citizens wanted by law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, the exit of 408 people who were prohibited from leaving the state was prevented, as well as the entry into the Republic of Azerbaijan of 24 persons who did not have access rights to the territory of the country.

As a result of measures to combat illicit drug trafficking, 191 kg of narcotic drugs and 6,523 tablets of potent psychotropic substances were identified and seized.

In addition, during the specified period, smuggling was prevented for a total amount of 5,558,247 manats, including narcotic drugs, stun guns, medicines and tobacco products.

Measures to organize reliable protection of the country’s state borders continue.
