The trial of those accused of participating in the fighting in Syria has begun

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has begun a trial in the criminal case of Azerbaijani citizens accused of participating in illegal armed groups on the territory of a foreign state. APA reports that today at a meeting chaired by Judge Akhmed Guliyev, the personal data was clarified. A trial is scheduled for December 21, 2023.

It is noted that information from the State Security Service (SSS), released in June of this year, states that 13 arrested citizens participated in battles as part of an illegal armed group and were trained in a special camp in the city of Idlib.

The identities of those who fought as part of the illegal armed detachment “Taifatul Mansura” were established, and a search was launched against them. They were taken to Azerbaijan and charged under Article 283-1.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
