Police operation: contraband pyrotechnics worth 300 thousand manats were discovered

Pyrotechnics worth 300,000 manats, smuggled into Azerbaijan from Georgia, were discovered, oxu.az reports, citing information disseminated by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The police received operational information that a wholesale sale of a large batch of pyrotechnics smuggled into the country from Georgia was organized at a clandestine warehouse in the city of Ganja.

Ilham Zakiroglu (born 1985) was detained on suspicion of organizing a wholesale trade in pyrotechnics. It was established that he illegally imported pyrotechnics into the country in small quantities and delivered them to Ganja, and also organized their wholesale sale in various regions of the republic and in the stores of the Sadarak shopping center. During a search conducted in the detainee’s warehouse, a large number of pyrotechnic devices were discovered, the total value of which on the “black market” is more than 300,000 manats. A criminal case was opened on this fact, and by a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against I. Zakiroglu. Investigative and operational activities continue.
