The head of one of the sites was arrested on charges of blackmail

Based on citizens’ appeals, the head of the news site azerinfo.az, Ibrahim Gumbatov, was detained, oxu.az reports with reference to APA. He is accused of distributing various defamatory materials about individuals with further extortion of money to remove them.

It is noted that a criminal case was opened against I. Gumbatov under the article of the Criminal Code on repeated extortion and a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention for a period of 4 months, an investigation is underway.

Earlier, the head of the website dunyaninsesi.az, Arshad Ibrahimov, was arrested for similar actions; a criminal case has been opened against him, and an investigation is underway.
