The court made a decision on the cassation appeal against the verdict of V. Safarli

The Supreme Court has completed a hearing on the cassation appeal, re-filed by members of the family of the former executive director of the now abolished State Support Fund for Media Development, Vugar Safarli, against the verdict against V. Safarli and the director of Portos LLC, Nadir Mammadov, who was arrested with him, oxu.az reports. At the trial, chaired by Judge Nazim Movsumov, a decision was read out, according to which the complaint was not satisfied. V. Safarli was arrested in January 2021. The Baku Grave Crimes Court sentenced him to 10 years and 6 months in prison to be served in a high-security correctional facility.

Director of Portos LLC Nadir Mammadov was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The other defendants Telman Tairov, Shahin Ibrahimov and Adalat Veliyev were given suspended sentences.
