Former Deputy Defense Minister of Azerbaijan is accused of embezzlement of 15 million manats

The trial continued in the criminal case of the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, the former head of the Main Directorate of Logistics, the late Lieutenant General Fuad Mamedov, company employees Fuad Sheydabekov and Azer Khalilov, accused of embezzling public funds on an especially large scale. As APA reports, at the trial in the Baku Military Court chaired by Judge Fikret Aliyev, the judicial investigation was declared open.

The prosecutor announced the indictment. According to the indictment, the late General Fuad Mammadov, in collusion with two company officials – Fuad Sheydabekov and Azer Khalilov, embezzled about 15 million manats of public funds.

The company employees pleaded not guilty to the charges. The son of Fuad Mamedov was recognized as the legal successor in this case. Commenting on the accusation, he stated that his father was innocent and asked that the criminal case against his father be dropped.

At the trial it also turned out that the property of the late general, valued at a large sum, had been seized. The court decided to conduct the trial behind closed doors.

The process will continue on January 24, 2024.
