In connection with the fire in the perinatal center, the director and two heads of department were brought to criminal liability

In connection with the fire at the Republican Perinatal Center, 3 officials were brought to criminal liability. APA was informed about this by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

As previously reported, in connection with the fire in the administrative building of the Republican Perinatal Center on January 9, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case under articles 225.3 (violation of fire safety rules resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence) and 314.3 (negligence resulting in death two or more persons) of the Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation has been entrusted to the investigative department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

As a result of preliminary investigative actions, illegal actions of 3 officials of the medical institution were revealed. It was established that the director of the Center, Mehriban Abasguliyeva, improperly organized work to comply with fire safety rules, the operation of medical equipment in the ward on the fourth floor, where the neonatal intensive care unit is located, the department of anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care of the Center where the incident occurred, medical equipment in the wards was used above the norm. Reasonable suspicions were also revealed that the power supply fault that arose in previous days was not corrected in a timely manner.
