Taxi driver arrested for drug distribution

Employees of the anti-drug department of the Khatai district police department detained a previously convicted resident of Baku, Elchin Jafarov, born in 1988, APA reports citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, more than 10 kg of heroin was found and seized in the Toyota Prius he was driving.

During the investigation, it turned out that E. Jafarov, under the guise of providing taxi services, organized drug trafficking.

Employees of the Khatai Regional Police Department detained another resident of Baku, Jeyhun Abbasguliyev, born in 1984, who was also involved in drug trafficking. About 2 kg of marijuana was found and seized from him.

Both admitted that they acquired the heroin and marijuana found on them through Iranian citizens whom they met on social networks, and transferred drugs hidden in various places in the city to individual citizens in order to earn money.

A criminal case has been opened on the facts, and operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
