Major drug smuggling prevented

A large amount of drugs was found in a vehicle transporting vegetables from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation in transit through Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports with reference to the Press and Public Relations Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC). Thus, the truck was detained at the customs of the Astara region. The driver stated that there were no items hidden from customs control or undeclared by the customs authority in the car. During an examination carried out by a stationary X-ray device, suspicious objects were discovered. At this time, a customs inspection was carried out with the participation of a service dog of boxes with lettuce that were in the vehicle.

As a result, a large amount of drugs was found in 30 packages. According to the conclusion of the Forensic Science Center of the Ministry of Justice, almost 70 kg of marijuana and 20 kg 870 g of hashish were found in the parcels.

An investigation into this fact is underway.
