Former Labor Minister sentenced

The former Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Salim Muslimov was sentenced. Thus, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison, but this sentence was replaced by a suspended sentence with a 5-year probationary period, oxu.az reports. The verdict was read out at a meeting of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes chaired by Judge Faig Ganiyev. At the same time, a decision was made to confiscate the defendant’s property.

The prosecutor requested that Article 70 (Conditional punishment) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan be applied to S. Muslimov and give him a suspended sentence of 13 years in prison with a five-year probationary period.

Salim Muslimov was arrested as a result of an operation carried out by the State Security Service. The ex-minister was brought to justice as a defendant under articles 179.4 (Misappropriation or embezzlement causing damage on an especially large scale), 308.2 (Abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences), 311.3.2 and 311.3.3 (Repeated receipt of a bribe on a large scale). size) of the Criminal Code of the AR, after 13 months of imprisonment due to health problems, he was placed under house arrest.
