Georgia extradited an internationally wanted criminal to Azerbaijan

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases of January 22, 1993, based on a petition from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, the Georgian supervisory authority decided to extradite citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR) Javid Huseynli, oxu.az reports with with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It is noted that as part of the preliminary investigation conducted at the Sumgayit city police department, reasonable suspicions arose that J. Huseynli had committed a crime under Article 221.3 (hooliganism with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic. For this reason, he was brought to justice as an accused and put on the international wanted list.

On January 18, 2024, J. Huseynli was detained on the territory of Georgia and, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, was taken to Azerbaijan.
