The sentence of the former dean was changed

The Court of Appeal of Ganja completed a hearing on the appeal filed by the state prosecutor against the judgement against the former dean of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University Famil Nasibov, oxu.az reports, at the trial chaired by Judge Alizamin Abdullayev, a decision was read out according to which the appeal was partially satisfied, the judgement of the Ganja Court for Serious Crimes has been changed. The probationary period assigned to him was increased to 5 years.

The court sentenced F. Nasibov to imprisonment for a period of 8 years, and also deprived him of the right to occupy leadership positions in government agencies and local governments for a period of 3 years. Article 70 of the Criminal Code was applied to the convicted person, according to which he was given a probationary period of 4 years. The main preventive measure chosen against F. Nasibov in the form of house arrest was changed to a written undertaking not to leave. The main preventive measure, together with the additional one in the form of removal from office, remained unchanged until the sentence entered into legal force.

During the investigation, it was established that, while working in this position, he received money from individuals as a bribe for admitting students who did not attend classes at his department to exams, giving them satisfactory grades and applying other benefits.

He was finally charged under Article 311.3.2 (repeated taking of a bribe) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic and the main preventive measure was chosen in the form of house arrest, and removal from office as an additional preventive measure. The criminal case was sent to the Ganja Grave Crimes Court for consideration on the merits.
