The Azerbaijani people honor the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide

In connection with the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, the Azerbaijani people visit the Ana harayı (“Mother’s Cry”) monument, erected in the Khatai district of Baku in memory of the victims of the genocide. According to oxu.az, intellectuals, members of the public, as well as ordinary citizens lay flowers at the monument and offer prayers for the repose of the souls of the innocently killed.

Let us note that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces, with the support of the 366th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the former Soviet army stationed in Khankendi (called Stepanakert at that time), stormed the city of Khojaly. As a result of another massacre committed by the Armenian aggressors against the Azerbaijani people, 613 people were killed with particular cruelty, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people, 1,275 civilians were captured, the fate of 150 people is still unknown. As a result of this act of monstrous genocide, eight families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, and 130 lost one parent.
