The petition of the former head of the Penitentiary Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was not satisfied

The Nakhchivan Court of Serious Crimes held another trial in the criminal case of the former head of the Penitentiary Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Major General of Justice Tofig Hasanov. According to oxu.az, Tofig Hasanov attended the trial via video link.

The meeting was chaired by Judge Huseyn Mammadov. Witnesses were questioned in court. Tofig Hasanov’s lawyer Alakber Jafarov filed a petition. The judge did not grant the defendant’s request. The trial was postponed until March 18, 2024.

It is noted that T. Hasanov was arrested in January last year in a criminal case, the investigation of which continues in the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service. He is accused of embezzlement and receiving bribes on an especially large scale with abuse of power.
