The court made a decision against those accused of attempting to assassinate the former chairman of AzTV

The Supreme Court made a decision against Shujaat Akbarov and Zohrab Shirinov, accused of organizing the assassination attempt on ex-chairman of AzTV Arif Alyshanov and members of his family, oxu.az reports with reference to Report. At a meeting chaired by Judge Nazim Movsumov, the cassation appeal of Akberov and Shirinov was rejected.

It is noted that in 2017, four people were arrested on charges of attempted murder of Arif Alyshanov and members of his family. According to the decision of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, Shujaat Akbarov was sentenced to 18 years, Gochali Jabiev to 17 years, Zohrab Shirinov to 16 years, and Agshin Huseynov to 1 year and 4 months in prison.

A. Huseynov was released in the courtroom because he had served his sentence during the investigation. G. Dzhabiev died in prison in 2020. Later, the appeal court reduced the sentence for Sh. Akberov to 16 years, and for Z. Shirinov to 14 years and 6 months.

According to the indictment, Shujaat Akbarov created an organized group in July 2013. He illegally acquired weapons and tried to order the murder of Arif Alyshanov and members of his family and steal their property in the amount of 4.6 million manats.

Sh. Akbarov was a business partner of Arif Alyshanov. The latter was relieved of his position as chairman of AzTV in 2019.
