MIA operation: 70 kg of drugs seized from circulation

Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized 70 kg of narcotics from circulation during the operation, oxu.az reports with reference to the department. During the operation, five members of an organized criminal group were detained – previously convicted Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Agayev and Ali Mammadli – suspects in the illegal drug trafficking.

A total of 70 kg of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances, heroin, methamphetamine, 3,565 methadone tablets, as well as bank cards used to receive funds for online drug sales were seized from the detainees.

The detainees, having entered into a conspiracy with an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being established by the investigation, planned to smuggle drugs into the country, deliver them to different addresses in exchange for monetary compensation, and use the proceeds to involve mainly young people in drug trafficking.

Criminal cases have been opened on these facts, and the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest for the detainees.
