Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan: 148 pages selling drugs on Instagram and Telegram are blocked

Using new cyber methods, 148 pages selling drugs were blocked on Instagram and Telegram, APA reports citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. These are 117 pages managed from abroad, blocked on Instagram, 31 channels on Telegram.

During the latest event carried out by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Combating Cybercrime, the administrators of a number of pages involved in selling drugs on social networks – Fagan Gasimov, born in 1986, and Minir Akchurin, born in 1982 – were detained. They were found to have passwords for social network accounts, mobile phone numbers, a large number of bank cards, mobile phones and other material evidence. The detainees legalized a large amount of money received from drug sales through cryptocurrency and other electronic wallets.

Based on the revealed facts, a criminal case was initiated at the Main Directorate. By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against F. Gasimov and M. Akchurin. Operational and technical measures are being carried out to identify and detain the remaining members of the group.
