A criminal case against a criminal group that includes officials, initiated on the fact of smuggling and other serious crimes, has been sent to court, APA reports, citing information distributed by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It is reported that the preliminary investigation has been completed on the criminal case initiated by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office on the basis of the facts of smuggling committed by individuals and officials involved in it, revealed by the State Customs Committee.
During the investigation, grounds were revealed to suspect that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who are members of an organized criminal group – the actual heads of Karvan 313 and Twins LLCs Telman Ibrahimov and Arif Rzayev, former customs officer Tevekkul Bayramov, as well as Shahin Soltanov, driver Rovshan Ibrahimov, citizen of the Republic of Turkey Shener Bilgi and others, while they were supposed to declare, on the basis of customs documents and mark with various excise stamps goods intended for export worth more than 17 million manats, imported into the country by about 60 vehicles, and export them to their destination in another country, in 2023-2024, violating the route, replaced these goods with copper and other precious metals, and then transported them through the Girmizi Korpu customs post to the territory of Georgia.

The investigation of the criminal case of Arif Bakharchiyev, accused of killing two people in the Binagadi district of Baku, has been completed, oxu.az reports. At the trial chaired by the judge of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes Ali Mammadov, the accused was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Thus, on December 31, 2023, the district prosecutor’s office received information about the death of Namig Orujov (born in 1968) and Ramil Safarov (born in 1981) in a cafe in the village of Balajari. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that 22-year-old A. Bakharchiyev deliberately killed N. Orujov and R. Safarov during a conflict at the said catering facility, inflicting multiple wounds on them with a kitchen knife.

Arif Bakharchiyev was charged under Articles 120.2.2 (intentional murder committed out of hooligan motives) and 120.2.7 (intentional murder of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

TikToker arrested for extortion

TikToker Aybeniz Khalilova (born in 1987), known under the pseudonym Beniz, has been arrested in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. By the decision of the Surakhani District Court, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen for her.

According to the information, H.Karimov filed a complaint with the Surakhani District Police Department and law enforcement agencies, based on the evidence provided by the applicant, opened a criminal case under Articles 182.2.2 and 182.2.4 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his statement, the plaintiff indicated that A.Khalilova demanded 836,000 manats from him.
