Based on the data of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan on the failure of some business entities exporting various types of products to foreign countries to return funds in the relevant currency to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the prosecutor’s office has opened criminal cases and is conducting a preliminary investigation, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. During the investigative activities, reasonable suspicions arose that contracts for the purchase and sale of agricultural products were concluded between legal entities registered in Azerbaijan and companies in foreign countries at different times, and large incomes received as a result of these activities were not returned to authorized bank accounts in the country, and there was also tax evasion.

In this regard, a number of officials have been brought to criminal responsibility. According to the State Customs Committee, the volume of unreturned foreign exchange earnings is estimated at tens of millions of US dollars.

A robbery was committed against a pharmacy in the Binigadi district of Baku, oxu.az reports. Pharmacist Sevinj Gabulova filed a police report that an unknown person entered the pharmacy with a knife, threatened her and stole 232 manats.

As a result of operational and investigative activities, Nurlan Adgezalov (born in 1986), who committed the robbery, was detained today.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact, the investigation is ongoing.

36-year-old Mikail Aliyev is accused of fraud against three people. The one who suffered the most from his actions was Aygun Khalilova, a long-time acquaintance of the accused, oxu.az reports. Mikail convinced Aygun that he owed a large sum of money and could be arrested if he did not pay the debt. Believing him, the woman gave her gold jewelry worth 57,600 manat so that Aliyev could pawn it at a pawnshop and take the money on the condition of subsequent return. However, the accused did not return the gold to its owner.

According to the accused’s lawyer Vugar Kazimov, his client does not plead guilty to any of the charges. They will present the evidence collected during the trial. The other victims, Fariz Ilyasov and Gabil Tagiev, lost a total of 5,000 manat. Aliyev promised to bring them cars from Georgia, but deceived them.

Mikail Aliyev has been charged with fraud on an especially large scale, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen for him. The preliminary investigation of the case has been completed.

Employees of the 33rd department of the Surakhani District Police Department conducted another operation to combat drug trafficking and robbery, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the operation, previously convicted 31-year-old Kanan Gachayev, suspected of drug trafficking, was detained. About 2 kg of methamphetamine was found on him.

During another operation, previously convicted 20-year-old Anar Jafarov and 27-year-old Ali Ismayilov were detained on suspicion of theft. At night, they broke the window of one of the houses located in the village of Zykh, got inside and stole money, jewelry and a mobile phone from there.

The investigation into these facts is ongoing.
