The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of Azerbaijan has exposed a cyber group that has infected 270,741 computers in 135 countries, oxu.az reports with reference to the state service. The group was traced during the investigation of one cyber incident.
Based on the data obtained during the analysis of the malware, the central command server of the attackers was intercepted. The cyber group has infected a total of 270,741 computers in 135 countries, including 7,790 in Azerbaijan, including 35 in various government agencies not connected to the centralized antivirus system.
The state service has ensured the blocking of all indicators related to this virus. The center for combating computer incidents of the state service, in turn, transmitted information about the infected computers to the interacting CERT centers, which made it possible to neutralize the activities of the cyber group in many countries.
“We recommend that government agencies connect to the centralized anti-virus system, and that citizens use anti-virus software on an individual basis,” the statement says.
