The Absheron District Court has completed the criminal investigation of Imran Asadov (hereinafter, the names and surnames are conditional) accused of fraud, oxu.az reports. According to the verdict, I. Asadov was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of freedom with the use of an electronic bracelet.

According to the indictment, the defendant, posing as a reliable partner in trade relations, misled his acquaintance, the victim Galib Gabilov, director of ELN Company LLC. Asadov convinced Gabilov that he was selling food additives imported by the company, having partially paid for their cost.

Thus, between 2019 and 2021, Imran took possession of food additives and hygiene products worth 39,847 manats in total and, having sold the goods, appropriated the proceeds.

During the investigation, a preventive measure in the form of police supervision was chosen for I. Asadov.

A sentence has been passed on Elvin Veliyev (born in 1983), who stole a large sum of money and gold items from a safe in the house of Mahira Veliyeva in the Saatli district, oxu.az reports with reference to publika.az. A criminal case was initiated against him under Article 177.3.2 (theft committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the information, E. Veliyev’s uncle is a businessman living in Russia, and his wife, M. Veliyeva, lives in the house in the Saatli district. Having learned where the key to the safe was, the man secretly entered the house in the absence of the owners from the end of March to the end of June 2023. The offender stole 391,685 manats and gold items worth more than 100,000 manats. He lost all the money in an online casino. The criminal handed over the gold to pawnshops in the Imishli and Sabirabad districts, as well as in Baku, and spent the proceeds on online games.

It is noted that the court found E. Veliyev guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.

According to the judgement of the Baku Military Court, the property of the accused, General Nizami Mammadov, Colonels Jalal Kazimov and Bayram Bayramov, estimated at millions of manats, was confiscated as compensation for damage caused to the state in the amount of 143 million manats, oxu.az reports.

Thus, General N. Mammadov has three apartments in Baku (two in one district), land plots in the settlements of Badamdar and Mardakan, as well as in the Bilasuvar district.

Colonel J. Kazimov has four apartments and a garage in the Khatai district, a dacha in the settlement of Shuvalan. In addition, the arrest was lifted from the land plot and house belonging to his relative.

Colonel B. Bayramov has a house in Ganja and a land plot in the Dashkesan district.

One of those brought to justice in this case, Major Vusal Alizade, sold all of his seized property during the trial and partially compensated for the damage caused to the state.

It is noted that this crime was solved by the State Security Service. N. Mamedov compensated for damages in the amount of 12 million 415 thousand 194 manats, J. Kazimov – 186 thousand manats, and V. Alizade – 325 thousand manats.

According to the court judgement, General N. Mamedov was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months, Colonel B. Bayramov – to 11 years and 6 months, Colonel J. Kazimov – to 11 years, and Major V. Alizade – to 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
