The trial of director of the Jabrayil Central District Hospital Anar Zamanov and neurologist of the Beylagan Central District Hospital Kifayat Hajiyeva, accused of accepting bribes, has ended, oxu.az reports. They were found guilty under Articles 311.3.1 and 311.3.2 (repeated acceptance of a bribe by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The Lankaran Court of Grave Crimes sentenced both to eight years in prison, but the punishment was considered suspended with a probationary period of one year and six months for A. Zamanov and one year for K. Hajiyeva. Thus, they remained free.

It should be noted that the defendants were brought to justice on four counts of accepting bribes.

Measures are ongoing to return funds received from the export of agricultural products to Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Thus, based on information received from the State Customs Committee on the failure of some business entities exporting various types of products to foreign countries to return funds in the relevant currency to the country, the prosecutor’s office has initiated criminal cases and is conducting a preliminary investigation.

As a result of the measures taken so far by the prosecutor’s offices of the Narimanov and Surakhani districts of Baku, it has been possible to ensure the return of over 70 million dollars (over 119 million manats at the exchange rate of the corresponding period) to authorized bank accounts in the country. These funds were received by some business entities from the purchase and sale of exported agricultural products.

A criminal case has been initiated against an accountant-consultant of the financial accounting sector of the Kapaz district department of the State Social Protection Fund of the city of Ganja under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, oxu.az reports with reference to publika.az. The official is accused under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement on a large scale), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The investigation established that the official falsified the data of 11 deceased residents of Ganja, registering them as living. He transferred all the pensions due to them to the cards of his relatives.

Thus, the accountant secretly embezzled 162,000 manats from the state budget from 2006 to 2018.

The materials of the criminal case have been sent to the Ganja Court of Serious Crimes for consideration.
