The Khatai District Court decided to arrest athletes Elnur Hamidov, Elchin Huseynov and Musa Akhmedov, who were previously detained for hooliganism, Report informs. Judge Fuad Akhundov sentenced the athletes to arrest for 3 months.

Thus, on January 4 at about 3 am in the Khatai District, an incident involving a group of athletes occurred. The police identified the participants, among them were athletes Elnur Hamidov, Elchin Huseynov and Musa Akhmedov. All participants were detained by police officers on charges of hooliganism.

A criminal case was opened under Article 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.

The trial of foreign citizen Martin Ryan, accused of spying for France, and Azad Mammadli, accused of treason, continued at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Report informs. During the trial chaired by Judge Elmin Rustamov, the defendants were informed of their rights. Martin Ryan was provided with a lawyer and an interpreter.

The court session was open to representatives of local and foreign media, employees of foreign embassies. The trial was declared open. The state prosecutor read out the indictment.

The criminal case against Ryan and Mammadli was initiated by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan. Martin Ryan, a citizen of France and Great Britain, was born in 1988, has a higher education and was engaged in entrepreneurial activity in Azerbaijan.

A preparatory hearing was held in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on the criminal case of Sevinj Aliyeva and Kamil Jurayev, accused of embezzling 217 thousand manats from 171 people by fraud under the pretext of employment in Europe. As reported by APA, personal data were clarified at the hearing.

Kamil Jurayev’s lawyer asked to change the preventive measure against his client. The court did not grant the petition.

The hearing is scheduled for January 21.

Azerbaijani citizen Taleh Bejanov, who was on the international wanted list on suspicion of committing large-scale fraud, was extradited from Russia to his homeland, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan. The investigation of the case, in which T. Bejanov is a defendant, was conducted in the Khatai District Police Department.

He was charged under Article 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (fraud causing significant damage).

T. Bejanov was detained in the territory of the Russian Federation, after which the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan sent an extradition request, which was satisfied by the Russian side. The accused was brought to Azerbaijan accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
