A verdict has been passed on Hamza Mammadli, who is accused of open calls for terrorism against the state, Report informs. The Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Mammadli to six years in prison. At the same time, the state prosecutor insisted on an eight-year term, and the defendant’s lawyer made a defense speech.

Hamza Mammadli was found guilty under Articles 214-2 (open calls for terrorism) and 281.2 (open calls against the state, committed repeatedly or by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code.

The Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office continues a preliminary investigation into a criminal case related to the smuggling of gold bars, Report informs, citing information distributed by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

During the investigation, reasonable suspicions were revealed that Afsar Mirzaliyev, Senior Inspector of the Coordination Department of the Operational and Investigative Department of the Main Customs Administration for Air Transport of the State Customs Committee, and citizen Safar Safarov, acting by prior agreement, smuggled 41 gold bars worth 461 thousand manats into the country on the Istanbul-Baku flight on December 27, 2024.
Based on the collected evidence, Safarov was charged under Article 206.3.2 (smuggling by a group of persons by prior agreement), Mirzaliev – under Articles 206.3.2 and 206.3.3 (smuggling using official position) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.

The court decided to impose a preventive measure in the form of arrest on them.
