Last year, Azerbaijani border guards detained 7 people suspected of having links with foreign intelligence services for the purpose of conducting intelligence and subversive activities against the country, Report informs, citing information distributed at a press conference dedicated to the results of the State Border Service’s activities in 2024.

In addition, as part of the fight against terrorism, 5 people who fought in various groups abroad were detained.

Border guards also neutralized 16 organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking, 4 smuggling groups, and 8 groups involved in illegal migration.

Three people who committed thefts totaling more than 26 thousand manats have been detained in Sumgait and Absheron region, Report informs citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. On suspicion of robbing houses and objects, police detained previously convicted 36-year-old E. Sefiyev, 28-year-old F. Alizade and 32-year-old N. Abdullazade.

An investigation is underway into the fact.

A number of officials in Azerbaijan have been prosecuted for failure to return export earnings to local banks, Report informs citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Employees of the Lankaran city district police department detained 33-year-old Turgut Nagiyev, suspected of organizing illegal drug trafficking, oxu.az reports with reference to information from the regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 11 kg of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances were found and seized from him.

It turned out that T. Nagiyev purchased the drug from an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being established by the investigation. A criminal case has been opened on this fact, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen for the detainee.
