A man has been detained in Baku on suspicion of paying counterfeit banknotes, Report informs citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, the police received information that an unknown person paid with counterfeit banknotes in two stores in the Binagadi and Nasimi districts of the capital.

As a result of the activities carried out by police officers, previously convicted A. Nuriyev was detained on suspicion of committing a crime.

Methamphetamine was found in his possession during a search.

An investigation is underway into the fact.

In the Yasamal district of Baku, 10 people were detained during operations to combat drug trafficking, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Police detained 42-year-old Babek Niftiyev, 34-year-old Saleh Salakhov, 52-year-old Samir Mustafayev and 7 more people, from whom about 3 kg of heroin, as well as marijuana and methamphetamine enriched with psychotropic substances, were found and seized.

Some of the detainees said that they received drugs through social networks from Iranian citizens unknown to them for personal use, as well as for the purpose of sale in Baku.

An investigation is underway into these facts.

An employee of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan, who worked as an inspector of the warehouse organization department of the Infrastructure and Development Department of the Azerterminalcomplex Association, was convicted of stealing goods worth 44,000 manats, oxu.az reports. We are talking about Huseyn Elsever oglu (born in 1993), a native of the city of Jalilabad. He was seconded to the Astara branch of the Association’s Services Organization Department by order of Major General Kanan Ashurlu, director of Azerterminalcomplex.

A criminal case was initiated against Huseyn under Articles 179.2.3 (embezzlement or misappropriation committed by a person using his official position) and 308.1 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and sent to court for consideration.

By the court’s decision, Huseyn was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restricted freedom. During this period, he will wear an electronic bracelet and will not be able to leave the territorial limits of the city of Baku.
