The Sumgait Court of Grave Crimes chaired by Judge Fahmin Humbatov held another hearing in a high-profile case of smuggling on an especially large scale, the investigation of which was conducted by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. In the dock are Zohrab Hidayatov, Elvin Shirinov and Gachgyn Humbatov, accused of smuggling and other crimes.
The trial heard the testimony of witnesses. Witness Ibrahim Ibrahimov said that he exported fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan abroad. To prepare documents for the exported goods, he met E. Shirinov through his brother Jafar Ibrahimov, who lives in Russia. Later, Shirinov introduced Zohrab Hidayatov to Ibrahimov as his employee. For a year and a half, the goods were exported abroad through a company owned by Elvin Shirinov. Shirinov was paid 150 manats in cash for each vehicle that took the goods out of the country. Another witness, Murad Askerov, noted that he met Z. Khidayatov 3 years ago. He paid Khidayatov 100 manats for each vehicle with various goods sent from Azerbaijan abroad.
The accused are charged under Articles 192.3.2 (illegal entrepreneurship committed with the receipt of especially large income) and 206.3.2 (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior agreement) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
