Smuggling of a large consignment of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan has been prevented, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press center of the State Border Service (SBS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On January 14, 2025, at 12:30, an attempt to smuggle marijuana from Iran to Azerbaijan with a total weight of 37 kg 396 g was prevented on the service territory of the Horadiz border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the SBS.

Investigative and operational activities are ongoing on this fact.

The number of war crimes decreased last year. As reported by APA with reference to the press service of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, this was announced at an extended meeting of the board of the department.

Military Prosecutor Khanlar Veliyev reported that in total 98.8 percent of registered crimes were solved, including 100 percent of other crimes.

Crimes registered during the reporting period decreased by 19.3 percent in total compared to the previous year, non-war crimes by 21.5 percent, and crimes against military service by 17.5 percent

A man who deceived 57 people by promising them employment has been detained, minval.az reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, the police received complaints that he deceived citizens into giving them money using advertisements posted on the TikTok social network under the guise of “employment for women” and under other names.

A previously convicted resident of the Yevlakh district, Rufat Jafarov, was detained by the police of the Hajigabul district on suspicion of committing fraud.

During the investigation, it was established that R. Jafarov presented himself on social networks as a representative of one of the employment companies and took money allegedly for employment from 57 people.

The investigation is ongoing.

More than 13 thousand manats were stolen from a payment terminal in Baku, Report informs with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, in Sabunchu district, in one of the markets, criminals stole more than 13 thousand manats from a payment terminal, as well as some goods. On suspicion of committing the crime, police officers detained H. Ovchiev, previously convicted of theft and drugs.

An investigation is underway into the fact.

The court sentenced gang members who stole 2,800 manats in cash and gold jewelry worth about 400 thousand manats from a private house in the village of Eyublu in the Tovuz region three years ago, Oxu.Az reports. Thus, in December 2021, residents of the village Nemat Abbasov, Elshad Jafarov, Zaur Aliyev, Asif Mammadov, Anar Abbasov and Elvin Mirzoyev were detained on suspicion of committing the crime.

During the investigation, it was established that the organizer of the theft was the victim’s nephew, Elshad Jafarov. As a result, the accused entered the house, stole a bag with gold jewelry worth 376,460 manat from the bedroom, as well as 2,800 manat in cash, and then fled to Baku. The criminals divided the money between themselves.

The court found all the accused guilty under Article 177.3.2 (theft causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the verdict, Z. Aliyev was sentenced to 6 years 6 months, N. Abbasov – to 6 years 11 months 3 days, E. Jafarov – to 5 years 10 months 25 days, A. Mammadov – to 5 years 10 months 27 days, E. Mirzoyev – to 4 years 5 months 20 days, A. Abbasov – to 3 years 4 months 25 days of imprisonment. The term of punishment is calculated from August 15, 2024.
